Alright! It is time for another ride packed adventure! Yes I know I went yesterday but really can one ride enough? Someone told me I needed to slow down or I will have explored all of MD before I know it. To them my reply was thus: There is always more to see and besides, ride while the riding is good! After all I have to ride my fill before the winter takes away my adventures!! So this gal is far from done!
So I am a member of a lot of forums and I enjoy chit chatting with everyone, discovering new things, places, and facts, not to mention getting help! These pleases, these online boards have become a very much-needed community for me since my move. In CA I depended a lot on one board for this need and it met it more than I had expected. Out here I have met and made friends with so many people I have more than one board. I love them all equally so it is about time I met some of them!
Last week Tyke and I met up with the crew from Maryland Cruisers so now it is time to meet the folks from MDRiders.com. Now how I came to be on this board is a blessing and a curse to me. Rina, the mod for MDRiders.com had done a search on Google to check out the name for her site. Well when she did she pulled up my forum, that no one talks on but me, and checked it out. She then decided to send me an email inviting me to check out her site. Well then! Lets see what she’s got! I checked it out and guess what I liked it! It is not as complex as some of the boards out there and right now there isn’t a lot of traffic but the members are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are so used to talking in person to each other they don’t really post up on the boards but perhaps one day that will change… The only thing is, and this just about broke my heart at first, they all live on the OTHER side of MD. Now MD isn’t huge like CA so it isn’t that drastic but they all live about an hour and a half, away and that is by slab (freeway). Ugggh ugggh ugggh and ick ick ick! But still. I want to see where this site goes. Perhaps, with the love and care already put into it, more people from my neck of the woods would come over and presto we have a wide spread community!
So far they have all tolerated me very well. When a chance of a BBQ came up… Er sorry I suppose that is supposed to be cookout… Sorry! To’may’to, ta’ma’to both are another word for Party! And that translates into any state’s lingo. Before the party, which along with being a cook out is a b-day party for GixxerChaos’ & a friend’s birthday, is a ride. What a better way to say hello… So I shoot an email to GixxerChaos, Chris, and find out full details.
Next thing you know I am on the road at 8am in the morning to make it to Germantown by 10. Full on slab the whole way! I was not pleased but it was the best way to get there. I got there a little early, even stopping to fill up, that was my plan though.
Arriving early means I am not late, arriving with a full tank means I am ready to ride! Bring it! Well the GPS isn’t exact and I actually rolled passed the house at first but the owner, and original poster, saw me and said “That has to be Tyke!” And it was. Hehe. I did find the house of course and was greeted warmly. I was tired and a bit sore from sitting so long.
Pause: Anyone else note that he recognized Tyke and not Sunny? This is a running trend. My bike, er Tyke rather, sssh don’t tell her I said it that way! Is more infamous than I am! Imagine that! Hehehe, its alright her headers aren’t getting any bigger for it. Hehe.
Anyway! So I get invited inside and go of course. Little did I know that two other members of the board are there and they don’t know I’m coming the sneaky sneaky man. So it was neat to be a bit of a surprise. As he calls up the stairs to let them know that someone else is here… then tacks on “BlueTyke” And I can certainly hear the surprise in their voices.
I was pleased at this, more than I thought I would be anyway, not to be vain or anything and really I don’t know why. Either way the two Chris surprised was none other than Rina, the Mod of MDRider and SlickF4i, John (or Jon? One can never tell by the name being pronounced.)
Needless to say it was great finally getting to meet these two. They have talked to me a lot and cheered me on in my adventures so it was great to meet them.
Moving on! Soon the bikes started arriving… And now it is time for more of the adventure.
I guess someone, I forgot his name (Sorry!) asked John to pick up a helmet for him and of course if you do anything like that you have to be reallllly trusting… Note to self: Don’t trust John as far as you can throw him, in a joking fashion of course!
So he is supposed to be getting this kicking Arai helmet. It came in an Arai bag, and it has the Arai tags but…. What is that in the bag?
Oppps I don’t think that was the one
Gee that looks a bit girly to me.. Not that I have anything against guys and flowers he just didn’t strike me as the type…
John got him good and I got the photo evidence of it hehehe. We make a great team John! The real helmet looked a lot manlier with green camouflage markings, what looked like rams horns along with bullets… O.o it looked cool though I promise! I’ll see if I got an actual picture of it later, though it might be on his head at the time.
The bikes:
Opps! That last one stayed home. I think even Tyke and I could take on that pair. The rider in that is Ron. He comes up more later…
Oh! I forgot a golden moment! Or practice, either way
No boys the cooler is staying here tooo (that’s Scotty sitting there with Ron)
More riders showed up, so thus more bikes
Rina, the MDR MOD Goddess, Aka Side Faerie (Hehehe!)
We going yet!? Come on it is already 10:30 lets get this ride started!
Still waiting!
We moved, around the corner… O.o
On the way to the gas station I had my camera out and ready to snap some pictures so when I came up along side John and Rina I snapped a shot apparently she wasn’t expecting that.
Back to waiting
And off we go! I cannot describe to you where the pictures were taken as I was fairly lost and was trying to keep up. This is no insult to them, I’m sure, but they liked to be a bit more spirited than Tyke wanted to go so I stuck towards the back. Which was cool because I was not alone! Whoo hoo! Yay for the Pace! No one pushed or forced me to go faster than I felt comfortable. They even waited for me to wave them passed which was very cool. A+ for ride ethics.
I am not sure who’s bike this was but I happened to cut most of the bike and the rider out of it, not on purpose of course, I think it still looks cool though. (we could play a game of name that bike! Haha!)
Mark… with John and Rina as ants in the back
If you notice, Rina is waving, She saw the Photo Ninja! Run hide! Set off the smoke bombs… I am kidding..
A quick shot of John but I got his bike… I still like this picture. Not to many moving pictures focus on the front end
Kind of a group shot, everyone is in front of me hehe
A bridge! They always find me!
Look ma! Them thar mountains again!
Ron on his Duke
Apparently it is new to him and he was practicing keeping his wheel down. He was having a real hard time of it is it would randomly come up! O.o he should get that looked into! Hehehe!
A few others kept catching that wind too.. It was odd Tyke and I had no problems but these others must be light weights! Hah!
Chris-
A good one of Ron,
Speedy-Go-Chris!
I am not sure who this is, they all look so different with gear on!
This one is George!
Hummm where are we??? Really I was aiming for a mirror shot of those behind me and I got it and the GPS
this next series of photos were taken of one person within the span of like… a minute, minute and a half. I forgot what his name is but I was totally amused watching him…
Legs down:
Legs over the passenger hand grip:
He did transition to superman in the middle of this but I wasn’t quick enough to get that picture. Here he is standing:
The jester up close:
And that wasn’t all. That’s just what I got in pictures. When we were passing some cyclists he mimicked them peddling their bikes. It was so funny and certainly unexpected.
I will note that while he did that, I might have been far back but it wasn’t because I didn’t feel comfortable. It just he was riding a bit faster than I was. I didn’t see him wiggle, wobble or jiggle at all. When I asked him about it later, well more to the fact that I told him he was d**n funny to watch, he told me that he had leg cramps.
Is that a twisty I see??? Why yes, yes it is!
We did hit quiet a few roads that were very nice for Tyke and I. One we did twice, there and back, because the turns were flowing and you could go faster. So we did a run up it then back down it again. After that we headed back for the party!!
Meet the guardian cat, watcher of the stairs… Luckily he let me pass as I really had to use the bathroom. Just kidding! This is a loving kitty that is an attention sleeper.

MDRiders got some stickers and since we were all there it was a good time to make sure everyone had them, I had already gotten my through the mail, Thanks Rina!
So the question stands… How many men does it take to put a sticker on a bike?
Ladies we have the answer! 4! One to hold the other stickers, two to do the work, and one to supervise!
It was alllll worth it though
No I didn’t put any stickers on Tyke. I have yet to do so. Hesitant really. I’ll look into a license plate cover though!
The grub!
Lets give this name thing a shot:
From left to right, Mike, Scotty, Jodi (kneeling), Michael, and Paul
From left to right, Jerry, someoneIdontknow, George, and Ron
Mark and Reggie getting the grub on
Mark
Lynn… ssshhhh I wasn’t supposed to take her picture…. Hehehe
Lynn, Ron, and Kimmy (And no Lynn was not riding or driving)
Lynn’s bum, Sean, John, Paul, Reggie, Ron, the neighbor, and the yellow beemer
Lynn (wow I did get a lot of pictures of her! Eeep!), Chris (Haapppy birthday!), and half of Scotty
Yes Chris can take pictures too! Scotty and Kimmy, along with Reggie’s knee.
The cake:
No they aren’t 58 but they added the years together so not to have to many candles.
Jodi!
I was told this was the proper way to photograph Lynn so I thought I would share that sentiment with Rina… Hehehe
This is how this picture goes: Reggie sits down on Lynn’s lap… She goes “Oww my nuts” and he goes “What nuts?” Can you tell?
More grub!
Rina, Zack’s roommate, a guy I don’t know blocking Ron and next to him is Ana (sorry we didn’t say hi! I had to get going soon after you got there! Next time!)
Rina I didn’t think the drink tasted that bad!
After that I realized it was almost five pm and I needed to get my bum home. That and it was also looking like it was going to rain. I have stated to many people that I don’t mind traffic it is when it mingles with the weather that I have issues. They don’t mix and so shouldn’t mingle. So it was time to gear up and slab it back home. Luckily I came home to dinner which was nice, steak mmmm I ate good today!
Some bonus material:
My WHOLE route 204 miles,
that makes 342 miles for the weekend!!
Just the Germantown Ride, I think this was like 77 miles…
And the Piece’ala’resistonce
A pan shot of the stop where the wind picked up…
Hehe! It was a great ride and a great time! Thank you very much for letting tag along and certainly for letting me eat and hang out!
