FINALLY I got to meet a great group of people I have been communicating with online. Imagine that I have been in MD for MONTHS now but our schedules never seemed to mesh but today I see a thread addressed to me. Click that open and what do I see... "Sunny we are meeting for a ride today. Call if you wanna go" Well that was the gist of it anyway. Now I freak because I don't have anyway of getting a hold of these fine folk to tell them HECK YEAH! Luckily one posted up saying she would check back onto the boards around 9:30 am... Quick what time is it!? 9:25... quick reply!!! sit wait... holding my breath, clicking refresh... Pleasssseeee seee meeeee...
Well as it turned out I made it in time! They checked the board and sent a notice with their digits and I called them right away! And so the story continues...The plan was now to meet up at 11:30am at HD of Baltimore then head on over to the Union Hotel to meet up with someone else.
Alright I am in! But by now it is 10:15am!! Girl busta move! So I got ready quickly and ran out the door, jump in the car then gasp! Forgot my new helmet! I simply have to check that out so launch out of the car and run back in and up the stairs for my helmet. Got it! Lets go! Back into the car and I almost made it out of the driveway this time when I remembered I left my camel back (Water pack) at the house! Shoot! I am going to need that today so I had to go back in. I really hope this is not a prelude to my day...Eeeeeennnny way... I run to the bank really quick then it is off to spring Tyke from her storage area! Here I am to save the day! And we are off! I make it in time, even after stopping to fill up my tank... Who ever said that Women take forever to get ready really needs to meet me...And so the party begins!
((( GGRRR a personal note to self. Remember to save often when working on a blog/ride log and stay the heck away from the back button!! The following probably won't be as good as this would be the second time I wrote it due to the above mentioned mistake.... I will try to get it right but now I am not so sure! :: save :: )))
So today we are meeting up with Readbeard, here in referred to as RB, Cindpi, Romeo, and Dirt. Sounds like we would make one hopping band if anything else! Upon arrival a few of the older coots needed to find relief from within the HD store in the form of their restroom. They are observing what I call "The passing of the coffee". Luckily I skipped out on having coffee and was ready to go! Buuutttt while we wait... Let us meet our rides. For these beasts of not so much burden need just as much mention on this adventure as the riders. Heck they put up with us!
Dirt is gracing us with the black and white machine, I wanna say it is an HD but I don't want to title it the wrong one and have HD sue me... But it is a good bike that likes to move... Next to his bike, that you can see, is Cindpi's blue and white HD. And RB is riding the giant windshield with an engine.
You can barely make out Tyke and you certainly can't see Romeo's Beemer...so let me show you
It is even happy to see me! I sooo want one of these for Tyke, anyone have it in blue? This one is adventure proof!
So enough waiting lets ride! Romeo takes the lead followed closely by Cindpi, me, Dirt, and RB takes up the rear.
Yes RB I see you, he does exist! I have now met and ridden with him. If he is not RB then he does a very good job of it and certainly could pass off as RB anytime. If he had me fooled then he certainly had the others fooled
A biker's dream, all traffic heading the other direction
Lookin back, yep all clear!
(( Save! Gottcha! ))
A beautiful picture. I love the contrast between the bright blue sky and the clouds then the trees and the grass.
We tootled along a lot of the back roads and again came across a cemetery. Now normally I find cemeteries very sad and depressing. This one though has changed my opinion. This one is cheerful and comes complete with it's own gaggle of happy geese.
Dirt waiting for the light to change
At one of the gas stops, a Wawa of all places... Cindpi captured a few photos
Romeo (And yes he is as slick as the name implies, or he tries to be)
ME!
Photog Ninja Sunny strikes again! Cindpi! I gottcha!
Relaxin on the ride! I am sooo jealous!
Yet another HD
I am soo happy I got the following pictures. I was not expecting this structure to come up out of no where as it did and had put my camera into my pocket. Luckily I was able to pull it out in time to get this picture
Ahhh those open roads again...
While we did have some opps moments they were unavoidable as two of the roads Romeo lead us down were closed!! How could they do such a horrible thing! Hehe it is all right as he found some great roads for us to play on and still get us to our destination. I am amazed too because he did it all without a GPS!! All of that information was in his head! A human GPS! Go Romeo!
We arrive at our lunch spot, Union Hotel in Uniontown
Apparently it is a bike hotspot...
Our newest ridemate
Inside the bar
Lunch! A pit ham sandwhich with cheese!
Fairly inexpensive at $7.50 It was really good though! See RB agrees!
Where's RB?
Picture by Cindpi, yes that is my camera in my hand and yes RB is looking to see what evidence I have so far...
Back on the road people! We have miles to cover and roads to carve!
We sat so long at this stop sign I had time to change out my battery in my camera. It started flashing at me so I decided since we were waiting might as well. A good thing too as there certainly were going to be a lot of photo ops.
You can't tell where we are going with this yet can you?
Lookit that road will ya! Beautiful!
On this picture if you will look to the right a bit you will see brown/tan spots.. This will be explained in a minute and might I add that I was SURPRISED to see it!
Yes folks a horse and buggy...We have now entered Amish country
Now I did try to get pictures as I was closer to them but they never worked out. I got a picture of corn...
Even a house!
But no buggy! And we passed like seven or eight of them too! So I took it as the Amish will to not have their picture taken. I seem to recall them having not such a nice time with their pictures being taken, though that could be different.
Who wants to go into the dark short tunnel first? Cindpi! I vote you! (Though really Romeo did first but he isn't pictured)
And on out into the sunshine!
Another nice contrasting picture. I didn't do anything but point and shoot..
Yet another HD (Again)
I did find something else.. One of my other hobbies is crafts so I was excited to see... Though we didn't stop
There is *that* road again
Any idea yet where we may be headed?
Red...Green! Action!
Cindpi
Romeo
RB
Dirt and Carl
What? What did I do? Kinda makes you wonder what their talkin about.. Especially because they should be riding!!
Relaxin RB.... I need to get me some pimp bars so I can rest my legs out like that..
Remember this bridge?
Now I didn't get any pictures of our destination because I had been there the week prior. You guessed it. The folks wanted to see... The Shoe. And because I knew were it was I was a good canidate to have along. I thought it was my company but noooo they just wanted me for my brain... Hehe just teasing. Well they ended up passing the entrance so it was a good thing I was along. I got us turned around and lead them up to the shoe. We got ourselves some ice cream and sat under the tree and chit chatted for a while enjoying the PA breeze.
It was time to get back on the road as it was nearing 4:30pm!
Just a nice shot of the distance
Welcome back!
There were some sweet roads we picked up on!! Manor Road, Harford (going away from towns), just to name a few. Though they are not twisties as I am used to they certainly were a bit more technical than what I was doing. We got back down towards my neck of the woods and it was time to go home...
Cindpi
Riding off into the sunset... or shade either one..
No odo picture this time. Per the GPS we went 181 miles today. Not nearly as much seat time as when I did it so needless to say I rather prefer this method.
The ride...
